I would like to go all out for my wedding-- I am quite proud of my natural golden blonde hair, however I have noticed most women from that era (1940's) have an "ash blonde" or "bleach" color to their hair. I admire said look but I wonder if I should dye my hair. I know nothing about hair coloring and I do NOT want to ruin my natural color. Would "bleaching" my hair for the wedding be a good idea?

DON"T mess with your hair! Don't fuss over the color, instead focus on the style. Very shiny hair with pronounced waves and that sexy little dip over the eye, or the pompadour...stick with hairstyles like that. They had hair of all colors in the 40's and it is the style that is important.
I, like you, have naturally blonde hair and my mom has always (since I was a kid) pounded it into my head that if I dyed it, it would never be the same again. I just wouldn't take that risk, especially because, as an adult, our hair has a tendency to darken anyway. I have funny beliefs about the hair and I think exposure to the sun is important to maintaining our blonde hair into adulthood. If you dye it, you will lose that.
Pick a great style and be sure that your hair is sleek and glossy. That's the most important to capture the 40's.
Tip: Have your stylist use a triple-barrel curling iron for that big wave look.
Congratulations and good luck!

Well the colour of the 40's was as they say "bombshell blone" which is very sexy however I personally think you should stick with your own colour and do not bleach it. The bleach looks nice at first but even though you have natuarallu blond hair u will notice darker roots after its been dyed. There are shaders and towners that can make your hair a more ashen cloour but they wont actually lighten your hair. Hope your day goes well

You should use a temporary hair color, it washes out in few shampoos, these can be purchased at most department stores. Do not use permanent hair dye. Since your adamant about your wanting to keep your natural color, I'd suggest a professional hair stylist to color your hair with the temporary color, if its in your budget. Good luck and congrats.

Don't ruin your natural color, it is not worth it. No one is going to notice the shade of your hair. They will only notice that you are beautiful, happy and having a good time.

In weddings you have enuff to worry about... Leave the hair color as is and get a good stylist to design it.

don't!! you'll ruin your bnatural hair color and you'll never get that color back, ever. So don't do it. Just get a finger wave done to your hair, add big lashes and red lipstick and you'll be 40's ready!
good luck-thats such a great theme its going to be amazing!!!

Take it from me, bleaching your hair is not a good idea. My natural hair color was golden blonde too, when I was just out of high school I decided I wanted the bleach blonde look, the biggest mistake I ever made. It makes your hair brittle, frizzy, and your roots will always come back darker, now you can't even tell that my natural hair color was blonde.
And I saw some suggestions on temporary hair dyes, that would work if you wanted to go darker, but they will not work if you want to go lighter. Check with your hairstylist, she will tell you the only way to go lighter is with permanent dye.
Since you just want it for the day....have you thought about investing in a nice wig, maybe one in an updo with curls. I think that would look cute for a 40's theme. But if you don't want to do that, then I would just stick with my natural hair color, I'm sure women in the 40's had different hair colors, just like we do today. By the way, that is such a cool idea.

U are a natural blonde, so try a demi-permanent. It will wash out eventually (in 28 washes). U don't need 2 bleach it, U R A blonde. A demi-permanent will color the inside and outside of the hair rather then a temporary dye that only colors the outside shaft of the hair. IF U ARE GAME though, try a gentle, natural permanent dye like Garnier Nutrisse or L'oreal Natural Match. Permanents DON'T wash out, they just fade.

maybe you should do a light red color kind of like Rachel McAdams in the movie 'the notebook' and then do big curls on the sides.

Don't change your hair color. It's not worth it. Keep with you're normal color. It'll look best.
