This is a question I get almost daily. The truth is you should shampoo immediately after the color is done processing. The common misconception is that if you shampoo you hair right after you loose your color. NOT TRUE!! You need to shampoo to make sure that all the color residue is out of your hair. If any amount, no matter how small, will cause your hair to dry out and become extremely damaged!! Water rinsing is not enough to eliminate all the color from the root area of your hair. When you wash be sure to use luke warm water to wash and cooler water to condition this will remove all excess color allow the conditioner to stay in the cuticle of your hair so it won't dry out. The cooler the rinse water the better when you condition! Hope this helps!!

The box says 24 hours, I wait that long and use a product by Tresemme that helps hold in the color, it works great!!! my hair doesn't fade as fast, and I spend alot of time in the sun!...also dont use hot water...try cool if you can, this helps the color hold better too.

2-3 days is sufficient. Colored hair is not meant to be washed regularly. No matter if you are using color locking shampoos or not. The best way to prolong color is to wash every other day or even every 2 days. Think of different styles you could wear on the "dirty" days. Up dos hold the best when hair is 1-2 days old. The more you wash the more the color will strip and start to get matte and loose it sheen.
