Preventing hair color from fading?

when my hair was shoulder length it was damaged from color and heat but the color always badly faded even though I used shampoo that was color treated and stuff

so now my hair is healthy and is short ear length and I got it colored so its all my natural well darker but the lady said it will fade to my natural so I won't have to color it because it was a pain. but my question is. will my color fade fast still? even though its shorter and a lot more healthier and haven't colored it in over 4 months.?

What can I do to prevent Color from fading. and don't say ask a salonist because she said it shouldn't fade.

-buy a shampoo %26amp; conditoner for your hair color.

-wash hair 2 or 3 times a week.

-deep conditon once a week

-while conditioning leave up to 5 minutes and rinse with super cold water.

I don't care what color you use fade out is a problem while there are color that don't fade as much they still fade.

The color that fade the least are not available to the public only licensed professionals.
