Once and for all, is vinegar better or lemon juice for coloring your hair?

My hair is dark brown, almost like dark chocolate (cant think of a better way to describe it).

I've read conflicting answers on here- some people say it works and others say it doesn't.

1. Does it turn dark hair orange?

2. Which is better to use- lemon juice or vinegar?

Once and for all, is vinegar better or lemon juice for coloring your hair?

Neither.

Both are natural hair cleaners. Meaning the get rid of the deposits on your hair and scalp. Thus when you make a cleansing shampoo you use lemon juice, or some sort of citrus. The reason some people say use lemon juice while in the sun is that when you strip the moisture from hair it can cause your cuticle to open up, thus allowing hair to lighten.

Peroxide, or sun in, lemon juice etc will cause dark hair to go orange because you are just opening up the hair cuticle and lightening the hair about a shade. They lighten what you have naturally thus bringing out your hairs "natural high lights". So if you have a reddish hue in your brown hair you will eventually turn orange by using peroxide, or lemon juice repeatedly.

How about going to a hair dresser and getting really nice caramel or blond highlights. It will look a lot better than turning orange.

I have used lemon juice to give myself highlights. It worked really well for me but I had very light brown to dark blonde hair.

lemon is better it wont turn orange it only lightens your hair a little it does not bleach it... if you want blonde hair just dye it

most people do not know what they are talking about

dark hair will turn orange because my sister tried it and trust me, she was so embarresed! lemon juice highlights it but vinegar just cleans oil build-up.

my haircolor was dark brown and i decided to do the lemon juice thing and now im dirty blonde. at first it turned out TERRIBLE but then i got highlights. with that and a lil retouching, trims, and great shampoos and conditioners, my hair is now long, healthy, and medium auburny brown-ish.

HAVE FUN!

BTW, im not sure about vinegar. ive never tried it but it costs a lot to get retouching and all the stuff i did with lemon juice so DONT USE IT OR YOU WILL REGRET IT!!!!

1. Vinegar only cleanses, it doesn't color.

2. Lemon juice cleans, and gives golden highlights.

Yellow lemon works best turns brown from orange to blonde but it slighlty burns the hair( takes a few times in the sun to work) you can also use SUN IN or A TOUCH OF SUN these chemicals work in teh heat and sun but have peroxide. Iv'e never known vinegar to work and it stinks.....but if you want streak do highlight with regular hair dye instead of bleach that way your hair will be less damaged
