Two things to consider: One is, go to a professional to get the hair straintened. Don't go to a Parlour in your galli which offers hair straightaning at a reasonable rate, because they will be using cheap chemicals which will harm your hair. Secondly, Henna will give you only very few shades, instead get it done in the same parlour/saloon you go to. You can choose the colour of your choice and they will do a good job of colouring it. Oh, choose the colour according to your skin tone.

Henna is a plant derived stain, so it wont hurt your hair.
My only concern is if you are looking for a temorary result, henna may be more permanent on relaxed hair.
stains (henna) coat the cutical (outside) layer of your hair, and slowly wash away. that is what makes them temporary.
Permanent colors lift the cutical to penetrate to the cortex (center) of your hair, making the effect permanent.
Relaxed hair has been processed and has lifted, damaged, or even no cutical layer left.
this means that temporary colors penetrate to the cortex (center)of your hair. Thereby making the results pemanent.
Also if you have varied perosity, health roots, sorta healthy mid strands, and not so healthy ends your results will varied. The fade out will be questionable, and probably not even at all.
The good news is most salons give free color consultations. You can go in and get professional advice for free. its in there best interest for you to look your best. If you like what they say, book an appointment, if you dont move on.

Often henna will look different on hair has been chemically altered than 'virgin hair'. Permed hair can be more porous and the color may not be what you expect.
You should wait at least a month after perming before even trying to do a henna treatment. Be sure to do a strand test since your hair is permed. If you want a deeper color reapply to build up the color.
Here's a very good website to help you along:

I have been doing henna on hair for the past 8 years and have a natural hair clientele as I specialize in it.
Henna is safe for your hair as long as you use body art quality. Some henna powders on the counter contain additives and preservatives and even metallic salts. These things can interfere with your chemically done hair, and this is where most people think and know about henna damaging your hair.
In no other way does henna ever damage your hair as long as it is top quality henna from a reliable supplier.
Since you have black hair, henna will give you the results of shine, strengthening along with reddish highlights. Your hair will be left very soft. You can add some amla powder as well to maintain your curls. Yes you can use the henna after you get your hair straightened professionally. Visit www.longhaircareforum.com for the best information
