Hair can only lift 4 levels so an ash brown will be the best as it's made to keep your hair from turning orange.

Call your local hair salon. Because some cheep brands use green dyes that cause you hair to change into weird colors. Your salon should help you on picking the correct product. Also remember, if you hair DOES turn a carrot/green/pink color, you can correct this by dying your hair red. Red crosses out any green. But it is possible, you just have to know what you are doing.

cUnfortunately its going to cost you my daughter did this she had blond hair and dyed it Jet Black now she hates it. I took her to a salon, where they highlighted her hair with light brown to red highlights. Her hair looks great. only other option is to bleah a strip your hair and recolor. I don't advise this, it ruins your hair.

I would definately go to a professional for this! Black hair is always the hardest to color because it has the most color pigments. In order to go lighter you would need to use harsher more permanent chemicals on it and over the counter hair dyes most likely wont get you good results.(orange!) My best advice would be to gradually lighten it up first with some type of peroxide agent, use an orange inhibitor product, and then dye it the color you choose. (that will be very hard on your hair though!) Also consider how fast your roots grow back....is this something you really want to keep up with? People with black hair should keep it black, it is very beautiful. Maybe consider highlighting it with streaks of lighter brownish tones instead? My hair is dark brown and its almost impossible for me to go lighter without turning orange too so I've learned to live with my hair the way it is. go see a professional!!! that just proves my point that these box colors are formulated with way too high of a volume of peroxide...going from black to dark brown shouldn't be that hard of a process at all. unless of course your hair is already colored black...the only way you could get to dark brown from black is if your natural color is black...and there is absolutely no previous color on your hair. color will not lighten color....but a pro. will know what to do...and they can make a formula just for you!

1rst off color will not lift color..You will need to get bleach at any beauty supply store make sure you get on scalpe bleach you dont wanna get a burn...Useing the bleach will lighten it the best product to use is by Miss Caiorl called 7 Stage it comes in a 2 oz bottle and you will need to get 2 actavors and some cream devloper good luck i hope i helped
