I have dark blonde hair with some highlights on top. I havent been able to go to the salon and my roots are overgrown and its making my hair look drab. I was wondering if I used a home hair color similar to my hair color, maybe slightly lighter, would that help brighten up my roots and rest of my hair without dramatically changing the basic color?

I would say that it would brighten up your hair color and refresh it. Yeah and get a lighter shade than your hair....it is hard to come back from dying your hair too dark.

no no no, go to the salon.
i would only recommend home hair colour if you're going darker. it's so hard to get it lighter with that stuff.
