What is the best shampoo for grey hair, no coloring, no perm?

there is a good product for gray hair. it helps it shine and takes out that yellow tone. it by clairol and is called "shimmering lights." they have it in a shampoo and conditioner. ...stunt its growth? I'm trying to grow my hair out long, I barely ever dye it, but when I do I dye it black, never bleached it, and am thinking about dying it black again as my roots are showing. But I won't if it stunts the growth... help?

I don't know about coffee but you put lemon juice on your hair till it feels like its all wet then go out into the sun on a very sunny day. Depending on your natural hair color though it may look normal or an odd color.

I've never heard of coffee to darken your hair, but the acidic in lemon juice can lighten your hair. but not significantly. You'd have to use a lot of lemons to go bleach blonde.

Try color rinses, they contain no chemicals to harm your hair, just deposits into the hair shaft and rinses out withing a few days.

I've lightened my hair by spraying a mixture of lemon juice, water and conditioner on it when I was going to be out in the sun, but you can't do it around other people because it makes your hair kind of nasty until you wash it out. Don't know about coffee.

you can use lemon juice to lighten it. Just put it on and sit in the sun for a while, it also works for highlights. I'm not a big fan of it though. I have to admit i prefer having a professional highlighting my hair.

Yes, coffee does work. But you have to brew it very strong. And yes, lemon juice does work, be sure to get some sun with it though. It looks kind of funky on dark hair though. It turns it brassy. I have tried. I tried coffee as well. I really did not see too much of a difference, I think because my hair is already so dark.

If you are using a box color -

Do your roots only. Don't pull the color throught the rest of your hair until you need to. Maybe every 3rd time you color.

Leave the color on the roots for 20 minutes, then pull the color through and leave it on the whole head for another 20 minutes.

Root retouching can be tricky. Are the roots not coloring at all or fading quicker or what?

Based on the question: If you are using the same color as used previously, then the roots should be applied first and left on for the recommended time, then just rinsed through the ends. Sometimes the roots might need a color level darker or lighter if you are still having difficulty getting the color to match or take.

Sometimes roots can be tricky, I would recommend applying the dye to your roots first, then working your way down and leave the actual dye on your roots for a longer period of time. Make sure that you use a good type of dye, I would recommend not getting the ones that come in the box and instead getting it from a beauty supply where you mix it yourself with the developer, check with an employee there and see what type of base you will need to best cover your hair color.

My hair is naturally a really really dark brown and I haven't died it in 3 years so its pretty much all grown out now. I wanna completely change it so I'll probably dye my hair a light brown and get blonde and burgundy/maroon highlights in it and I was thinking since my hair is very dark, I wouldnt want it to turn orange with the bleach and I just absolutely don't know what to do... any tips?

One thing is, if you're attempting to bleach your hair out to that certain shade of light brown - well, don't count on it.

Hair lightens on a color scale that goes from black, to red, to platinum, which is why if you only bleach it to a certain lightness you may be hitting a nasty hue of yellow or orange. If you do it yourself you probably need to keep going until the yellow isn't horridly present (no blatantly orangey tones present) then dye it your prefered light brown shade, THEN add your highlights or lowlights. A toner may be needed.. It is complicated if you're going for something very specific, so I do think you'd fair best if you went a beautician at least for the first time to see what she does and to ask her for tips if you decide to do it yourself in the future.

i got the perfect idea. i have gotten my hair died alot! so you should probably just go with it. If the streaks turn orange just say you wanted it that way. Then you can probably just get used to the orange. Just be CONFIDENT!

If I were you I would save up your money and get it professionally done. Last time I died my hair it turned out purple!!! Some people thought it looked pretty cool but I'm 43!

If you're not sure about how your color would turn out, your best bet is to just go to a beautician and get it done. Believe me,you don't want to be making mistakes that you'll really regret later. My hair is dark brown and I tried highlighting it. My highlights came out pink. I had to call the company that manufactured the dye and ended up having to buy another hair dye to change my highlights to the color they were originally supposed to be.

Tove's right. Unless you're planning on going to a professional (read: expensive) salon to get it done, it's going to come out looking fake. So let it look fake, but say you meant for it to look fake because it's a punk thing.

that big of a change please please dont do it yourself it will cost alot more if you have 2 go 2 a salon 2 fix it my friend is a stylist and ive heard many stories of people frying their hair so bad that if she wouldve even tried 2 correct the HORRIBLE color their hair wouldve broken off if you want 2 do just 1 color that should be ok but do not use anything with bleach

Hi, I think what you really want is to look different then now. However I think you should try a color which will suit your complexion the most. If you are fair then there is no problem with selecting colors but still because you want to look different so select a color which will not only makes you look beautiful but also make you different then others. If you are not very fair then you may try burgundy or henna. BLEACH? Never ever think about it. It will finish your hair....TAKE CARE AND BE DIFFERENT
